Torbay Hospital Surgical Theatres Department Commission 2024
Four day mini-residency working on commissioned drawing and chatting with staff about their experiences of mistakes in clinical contexts.
The drawing was made on paper that been dipped in fluids used for cleaning the skin. The lines were drawn using Methylene Blue and Videne. On the final day I took part in a half day staff development session attended by over 150 Theatre staff members, led by surgeon, David Alderson whose particular interest as a clinician, teacher and creative writer is on changing the conversations around errors in clinical practise.
The drawing is now hung in the main Theatres entrance where it will be see by both patients and staff.
